Reflections on this Sunday with the world facing its worst crisis since the Second World War, as we view Russia's terrible, unprovoked, indiscriminate bombing of Ukraine.
This beautiful Gaelic Blessing immediately came into my mind as we pray for Peace
There are several blessings with their origins in the Gaelic language of Scotland. Probably the best known is "Deep peace of the running waves to you".
its gentle words have been set to music by modern composer John
Rutter, most famous for his arrangements of Christmas carols.
You can hear the blessing sung HERE on TV's "Song's of Praise" from Chester Cathedral.
Deep peace of the running wave to you.
Deep peace of the flowing air to you.
Deep peace of the quiet earth to you.
Deep peace of the shining stars to you
Deep peace of the gentle night to you.
Moon and stars pour their healing light on you.
Deep peace of Christ,
Of Christ the light of the world to you.
Of Christ the light of the world to you.
Deep peace of Christ to you.

How beautiful! Thanks so much for sharing the poem/lyrics and the link to the music, Susan.
ReplyDeleteI have always loved this blessing and the music. We used it for my father-in-law’s funeral. I love how you’ve illustrated the words with the perfect photos. Thank you for this inspiration Susan.
