Military Monday: Christmas Greetings to Serving Soldiers

The village of Earlston, Berwickshire in the Scottish Borders.  remembered its  serving soldiers at Christmas time with these World War One cards, now in the collection of the local historical society - Auld Earlston.

In the 1911 census Earlston's  population stood at 1749 with 801 male and 948 females.

Forty-nine soldiers from Earlston lost their lives in the First World War and are remembered on the War Memorial, unveiled in November 1921.
