This week's Sepia Saturday prompt image is rather different from usual - it is of a bedroom with a four poster bed in a grand house. Cue for me to look back at a wonderful gift we were given of a weekend break at Ardanaseig House Hotel, a 19th century manor house in the West Highlands of Scotland on the banks of Loch Awe.

A perfect sharing to match the prompt, and what a grand place it is. What a lucky gift. Your guest bedroom was beautiful. :)
ReplyDeleteHow lovely! Those cows/pets are darling…though maybe still smelling like cattle! I don’t think I’ve ever slept in a 4-poster bed! Not holding my breath either. But I think I’d enjoy the elegant surroundings.
ReplyDeleteLooks like a very posh place! However Google tells me it is now permanently closed. :–(
ReplyDeleteLast summer we discovered an unusual country inn in Kentucky that was so beautiful (and came with farm animals too) that we've booked a return for this summer. It's the Shaker Village of Pleasant Hill, KY which is a historic community on 3,000 acres that was established in the 1840s and is now preserved by a non-profit group. The rooms are the opposite of your Scottish estate, all neatly furnished in the simple Shaker style (though now with wifi and tv). It was surprisingly affordable and I've rarely encountered such a peaceful place that seemed stuck in another time.
