Continuing the April theme of Twosomes, a look back back at our three cocker spaniels who over thirty years were part of our family.
Two - plus One!

When Beauty died, we said we were not going through that experience again of losing a well loved pet, but surreptiously we were scouring the classified adverts in the paper for another dog. The result was two year old gentle blue roan cocker spaniel Coleen joined the family.

Two plus two - this time with my parents taking a break from a walk in the park.

died suddenly at seven years old at a time when there were other
stresses in the family. We could not imagine family life without a dog
and that had to be a cocker spaniel. So within a few months we had puppy Casmir (Cass) - -
she had such a distinctive orange roan colouring, she became well known around our
small town and lived to the grand age of 13. A pet and great friend of all the family.
I always thought of Cass as the "princess"
if she were to star in a Disney animated film.

Such lovely photos of your canine family members, and a unique take on the prompt. I also had a cocker spaniel as a child -- such kid-friendly dogs and so much fun.
ReplyDeleteWhat a beautiful salute to your three well-loved doggies. I think pets - dogs, cats, birds, whatever - keep you sane, especially in rough times. They love you no matter what and you can't help but love them back - no matter what. It's a win-win situation all the way around! :)
ReplyDeleteAs with my family photos, your succession of dogs allows you to date photos. My parents adopted a blonde cocker spaniel when I was in kindergarten as my grandparents had a black spaniel at the time, Sadly within a year she was runover by a car in our neighborhood which was more traumatic for my mom than me. But over the years there were numerous dogs and cats for each decade. Now in addition to our rescue retriever, we care for the last generation of my parent's dogs, a miniature Schnauzer who is now age 15, deaf and increasingly infirm, but who can still bounce around like a young baby goat.
