I found it when I search...What an interesting blog! I found it when I searched this: "South Shields" "Leith" history. <br /><br />I have many ancestral connections with South Shields, first through my paternal grandmother, Frances Sarah White, whose father was a master mariner operating from South Shields, and then one that I have just discovered, through my maternal line ancestor Hannah Pollock, whose mother was Margaret Shotton, the daughter of Ralph Shotton, sailor from South Shields.<br /><br />Margaret was married to Andrew Pollock in Leith, where she was living.
