Today I remember in particular my two great uncles, John Danson and George Danson, both killed in the First World War - two of five brothers serving in the trenches. George (right) was a stretcher bearer and died at the Battle of the Somme, aged just 22.
Also my grandfather, William Danson (left), who survived the war and was awarded the Military Medal following the Battle of Passchendaele.
Serving in World War Two was my father John Weston (right) who was part of the D Day invasion.
Also my Uncle Charles Weston (left) who experienced the horrors of being a Japanese prisoner of war, working on the bridge over the River Kwai, WE WILL REMEMBER THEM

Susan, what a remarkable service history for your family. So much sadness and tragedy there as well as the inspiration of survival and bravery.
